Orange Flapjacks recipe
Try these for breakfast or in lunchboxes for a healthy snack. They're wonderfully tangy and are great as a dessert with some whipped cream, too.
Ingredients:
250g rolled oats
120ml orange juice
55g butter
4 tbsp. golden syrup
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. sesame seeds
Grated zest of one orange
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 200C/gas mark 6.
2. Line and grease the insides of a 19cm square cake tin
3. Toast the sesame seeds until golden brown in a saucepan with a little bit of olive oil.
4. Melt the butter, syrup and sugar together over a low heat. Add the zest and the juice. Heat together for about 2 minutes. Remove from the heat.
5. Add the oats and seeds and stir together well.
6. Press this down into the cake tin.
7. Cook for around 25 minutes or until firm to the touch.
8. Leave to cool in the tin and cut into squares.
These will keep for up to two weeks in an airtight container. These are lovely with a bit of grated dark chocolate over the top whilst still warm. The chocolate will melt slightly and run into the flapjacks, making them even gooier.
